The Disibodenberg

In Saint Hildegard's hills

This room here in the house's gable, closest to heaven, radiates spirituality and tranquility. Let the unostentatious Baroque cabinet, a table that once served in the monks of the Meisenheim monastery, or perhaps just the idyllic view from the room's own window inspire a 'Nahe' peace. A famously steep Riesling vineyard, the Odernheimer Kloster Disibodenberg has been renowned and respected since time immemorable. Vinum magazine heralds it as "one of Germany's grand terroirs," and Gault Millau refers to it as one of the Nahe's finest vineyards. The cloister directly behind the vineyard bears with it a world cultural/historical heritage derived from its most famous former inhabitant: Hildegard von Bingen, who lived and worked here for over forty years. In Disibodenberg, Weingut Klostermühle Odernheim owns the very heart of the vineyard, which also contains the highly visible vineyard house originally built in 1811. This house serves as the symbol of the estate. Slate and sandstone soils make up the steep south-facing slopes. And the nearby floodplain helps ensure a temperate, balanced climate. The hillside vineyard is an ideal site for Riesling. Wines from the Kloster Disibodenberg vineyard stand out for their sublime fruit and minerality, and a perfect blend of both power and elegance.
